VATIKAS

INTRODUCTION

Through this model, the ‘school goes to children’ rather than ‘children going to the school’.

The focus is to provide learning through a recreational methodology, imparting skills such as: Reading and Writing, Arithmetic, Sports, Music and Theatre.

Gyanoday engages children in co-curricular activities as well to showcase their talent and also organises programmes on personal grooming, health, hygiene and environmental consciousness.

THE 4-H MODEL

Our curriculum is based on the 4-H Model whereby, the aim is holistic development of children, youth, drop-outs and targeted beneficiaries.

CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Our Vatikas take the slum-dwelling children through an interesting learning process with reading, writing, drawing, crafting, life skills, communication skills, self-development, moral & social values, helping them be socially responsible.

MORAL FOUNDATIONS

Our Vatikas provide the slum-dwelling child, lessons on health and hygiene, environment and several ways to stay away from social evils like crime, drug consumption and peddling. We help build their moral and ethical foundations for the future.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

These Vatikas also act as a medium to give back the child a small part of his childhood and recharge their brains by allowing them to pursue their interests, providing access to various learning activities, sports and games meant for their age.

GUIDANCE & SUPPORT

Through our Vatikas, we provide the child, daily access to supportive and understanding adults, whom they can trust. They help them make good decisions, figure out thoughts, answer questions, give advice and create a healthy support system.

SUCCESS STORIES

I finally became a better person...

I was badly addicted to chewing tobacco. After a year at Gyanoday, my addiction has gone. Now, I want to study hard and become a police officer when I grow up.

Neha Rani, Budhana Gate Vatika

I can finally lead a better life

I used to beg on the streets. My father has wasted his life in gambling. My mother is a rag picker. My association with Gyanoday has given me a new direction. I am going to study very hard and one day I will become an engineer.

Mala, Jawahar Nagar Vatika

I can now pursue studies....

I was studying in a primary school but I was thrown out because I could not pay the fees. My parents being daily wage earners, could not support me. But, now with Gyanoday Vatika, right in my slum, I am back to studies and very happy.
